The role

EAMOT is an AI-first energy management and IoT company. Our platform monitors and optimises energy consumption across large distributed branch networks — currently deployed across 2000+ sites in India — for enterprise customers in banking and financial services, quick-service restaurants, logistics, and aviation ground handling. Today everything from the meter register to the customer dashboard converges on one person, and that is a single point of failure for a platform running in production across a national footprint. This role takes end-to-end ownership of the technical stack: device onboarding, data ingestion, the time-series platform, the APIs and dashboards on top, the reliability of all of it, and the AI features we build into it. You will be hands-on in the code and also the person who sets the standard for a small team.

What you would own

  1. 01Gateway onboarding — bring new edge gateways (ESP32-class) onto AWS IoT Core over MQTT/TLS: provisioning, certificates, topic design, and the runbook that makes it repeatable by someone else
  2. 02Deployment support — support commissioning teams during EMS rollouts: validate data at the point of installation, and catch bad wiring or misconfigured meters before they become months of dirty data
  3. 03Fleet health — device inventory, connectivity monitoring, firmware and OTA update strategy, and certificate lifecycle management across the fleet
  4. 04Ingestion pipelines — own the path from MQTT message to stored, queryable measurement: rules, buffering, deduplication, late and out-of-order data
  5. 05Time-series design — design and tune TimescaleDB (hypertables, chunk intervals, compression, continuous aggregates, retention) so dashboards stay fast as the site count grows
  6. 06Data quality — build automated detection for data gaps, stuck meters, unit and scaling errors and sensor drift, plus the backfill and correction tooling to repair history
  7. 07Energy analytics — implement and validate the derived metrics customers act on: consumption, demand and load factor, power factor, baseline versus actual savings, and site-level benchmarking
  8. 08Backend services — design, build and maintain FastAPI services: multi-tenant data access, authentication and authorisation, and integration endpoints for customer systems
  9. 09Customer-facing dashboards — own the Next.js application: dashboards, reporting, and scheduled report delivery, plus an alerting layer tuned so alerts stay meaningful
  10. 10Observability and incident response — detect data loss, ingestion lag and service degradation before a customer notices, and write clear, blameless RCAs with tracked corrective actions
  11. 11Cloud cost ownership — monitor and optimise AWS spend across IoT Core, compute, storage and data transfer, and keep cost growth sub-linear to site growth
  12. 12Applied AI — build LLM and agent-based capability into the product where it genuinely helps (anomaly explanation, report narration, natural-language querying, operations assistants), with evaluation, fallback and human-review guardrails
  13. 13Technical leadership — lead a small engineering team: task breakdown, code review, coding standards, design review, and sprint planning and tracking in Jira
  14. 14Client-facing technical work — scope enterprise deployments, respond to security questionnaires and architecture reviews, and maintain architecture documents, integration guides and runbooks fit to be shared with a client

What we are looking for

  • ·Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline
  • ·4–6 years building and running production software, including at least 2 years leading engineers or owning a system end to end
  • ·Strong Python, with production experience in FastAPI or an equivalent async web framework
  • ·Solid PostgreSQL and SQL, and real experience with time-series data at scale (TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, or similar)
  • ·Hands-on AWS: IoT Core or equivalent MQTT infrastructure, plus Lambda, S3, ECS/EC2, IAM and CloudWatch
  • ·Practical MQTT experience, including TLS, certificate-based device authentication and topic design
  • ·Git, CI/CD, and disciplined debugging of problems that span firmware, network and cloud
  • ·Clear written communication — you will write RCAs and architecture documents that clients read
  • ·Based in Mumbai, or willing to relocate. Occasional travel to customer sites within India
A strong bonus, not a requirement
  • ·LLM and agent frameworks — LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI — and experience shipping an AI feature to production
  • ·Next.js and TypeScript for the frontend half of the stack
  • ·Embedded or firmware exposure, particularly ESP32 or comparable gateway hardware
  • ·Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK) and container orchestration
  • ·Energy or building-management domain knowledge — metering, HVAC, ISO 50001, measurement-and-verification methodology

How this goes from here.

  1. 01Thirty minutes with the person you would report to
  2. 02A scoped problem from the real backlog — paid if it runs long
  3. 03A site visit, so you see a machine room before an offer
  4. 04A yes or a no with reasons, within a week

Tell us about one production system you owned end to end: what it did, what broke, and what you changed as a result.
